Dignity.  The one word that says it all.  The one word that comes as a sudden light in the darkness  when you venture too far away in thoughts about mankind and the reasons why  few stand out and many more linger in what you can only define as different  sad forms of parasitism and ultimate self-destruction.  For the idealist who stubbornly lives life forcing himself or herself  to respect principles that will have to ultimately define his or her identity  and coherenc Dignity.

Failure to grasp.  Failure to believe.  Failure to make some little experience useful for tomorrow.   
The noise of the empty glasses, one against each other,  really too quick for you to follow?   
The everlasting flow of things always holds a meaning  if you do not fail to grasp it.   
What is needed?  If you lose desire,  you might as well put away that last cigarette and head home,  for that is needed.  And if you lose the sense of belonging  you might as well put Beer and Cigarettes.

in a precise direction, albeit in an extremely slow way...

Another good definition for growing up:
learning how to get used to one's self and trust it.

And focus. Oh yes, you'll need a bit of that, too.
